Technical Questions

What is DICOM?

DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is the international standard for medical imaging.

DICOM is used by:

  • CT scanners
  • MRI machines
  • X-ray systems
  • Ultrasound devices
  • PACS systems

Our server speaks DICOM, so your medical imaging devices can send images directly to the cloud.

How do I upload images to my server?

There are multiple ways to upload DICOM images:

  1. From Modalities (CT/MRI/X-Ray):
    • Configure your device to send to our server
    • Use your unique AET and IP address
    • Images upload automatically after each scan
  2. From PACS/Workstation:
    • Use DICOM C-STORE to send studies
    • Configure destination as our server
  3. Manual Upload:
    • Use DICOM tools like dcm4che, OsiriX, Horos
    • Send files via DICOM protocol

What viewers are supported?

Your subscription includes OHIF Viewer, a professional medical image viewer with:

  • Multi-planar reconstruction (MPR)
  • Window/Level adjustment
  • Measurement tools
  • Zoom, pan, rotate
  • Study/Series navigation
  • Works in any web browser

You can also use:

  • OsiriX (Mac)
  • Horos (Mac)
  • RadiAnt (Windows)
  • Any DICOM-compatible viewer
What is my storage limit?

Your storage limit depends on your subscription plan:

  • Plans range from 100 GB to 1000 GB
  • Image capacity varies by plan and modality

*Actual image count varies based on modality and image size

You can monitor your storage usage in your customer portal.

Can I increase my storage?

Storage cannot be increased once your server is deployed.

If you need more storage, you have two options:

  1. Deploy an additional server - Get a second DICOM server with your desired storage size (100GB-1000GB)
  2. Archive old data - Download and remove older studies to free up space

To deploy an additional server, visit our homepage and create a new deployment.

💡 Tip: Many facilities deploy multiple servers - one for active cases and another for archives.

Will my data be deleted immediately when I cancel?

No! Your data is NOT deleted immediately.

Here's what happens:

  • Immediate: DICOM server stops (no new uploads accepted)
  • Days 1-7: Data remains on our servers, accessible for download
  • Day 7: Data is permanently deleted if not reactivated

This gives you:

  • ✅ Time to download your data

  • ✅ Peace of mind that data isn't instantly gone
💡 Pro Tip: If you're canceling permanently, download your data during the grace period. After Day 7, recovery is impossible.
